Andy has spent his entire career in the independent school sector, including the last 20 years as a Head and later as Director of External Relations at one of the oldest schools in the world. He served as Head of the Prep School at St Peter’s, York for 18 years before moving into a newly created whole-school role overseeing external relations, fundraising and strategic partnerships. Alongside this, he played a significant part in the start-up and development of an international school in China.

His experience extends well beyond a single institution. Andy works as a UK and international schools inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and as a leadership coach and critical friend to senior leaders across a range of sectors. He has also held a number of non-executive roles, including with the Independent Schools Council, the Independent Association of Prep Schools (as Chair), and currently York St John University, where he is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. He holds an MBA and a Level 7 qualification in Leadership Coaching.

Andy is passionate about ethical, authentic leadership. He works with senior leaders to strengthen their organisations in ways that value and empower staff, foster trust and understanding, and deliver strategic goals with integrity and clarity.
